For Fieldguide’s app icon, we simplified the name to Fg. This choice avoided the trope of single-letter app icons while referencing the common abbreviation of the word “Figure” — used to denote images in early science books — and the visual language of periodic tables. The g’s pixel-like ear is a nod to the app’s advanced AI capabilities.
