Metropolis Magazine
Cover design for January 2010 issue

Post Typography designed the cover of the current issue of Metropolis Magazine. "What's Next" looks at the impact (and necessity) of design ideas from one, five, and ten years in the future. On the cover, the title letters become cut-paper doors, giving a look into the issue's contents.

Lettering & Type
New book written and designed by Post Typography

We are very excited to announce the release of our new book Lettering & Type: Creating Letters and Designing Typefaces from Princeton Architectural Press.

Written, assembled, and designed by Bruce Willen and Nolen Strals of Post Typography (with a foreword by Ellen Lupton) Lettering & Type is a smart-but-not-dense guide to creating and bending letters to one's will. More than just another pretty survey, Lettering & Type is a powerful and essential how-to book full of relevant theory, history, explanatory diagrams, exercises, and hundreds of inspiring insights and examples from contemporary practitioners of lettering and typeface design.

Visit www.letteringandtype.com to learn more about the book and take a look inside.

If you are in the Baltimore or NYC areas, you are invited to join us at one of our two book launch events: Thursday, October 29 at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Tuesday, November 17 at The Cooper Union. Both are free and open to the public.

Greenbuild 2009
Graphic Identity and Ad Campaign for Upcoming Expo

Post Typography recently designed the graphic identity for the U.S. Green Building Conference's annual Greenbuild expo, the largest conference devoted to environmentally responsible building, architecture, and urban development. The 2009 conference in Phoenix will draw tens of thousands of attendees from around the world and features a keynote address by Al Gore. This the third year in a row that we have created a graphic identity for Greenbuild (2007 and 2008 designs can be viewed in our Case Studies portfolio.), and 2009 promises to be the best year yet. Look for more Post Typography-designed Greenbuild materials--including print, motion graphics, and apparel designs--on our site later this fall.

SPIN Magazine
Post Typography Creates Lettering for Purple Rain Special Issue

We were excited to create the lettering treatments for SPIN Magazine's 25th anniversary feature on Prince's classic album, Purple Rain. Our hand-drawn lettering appears on the cover and the interior feature spreads (opposite some totally sick Prince photos). The cover is meant to convey a concert poster feel without straying too far from SPIN's type styles, while the interior spreads feature custom lettering inspired by the 80s script of the Purple Rain album art.
