The New York Times‘ Arts&Leisure critics curate a selection of the best cultural events and releases for their annual The Year in Culture issue. We took the idea of a specimen box and brought it to life by representing “the arts” as beautiful, collectable artifacts to treasure and display. We hand-cut the paper silhouettes, typewrote the labels, and went on a wild search for the perfect pins with which to impale our paper specimens, culminating in this life-size cover photograph.
