Thanks to everyone who came to our final shows. The last tour, and especially our final show in Baltimore, were some of the most fun and amazing shows we've ever played (and the best crowd-surfing we've seen since the "Even Flow" video). Stay tuned to this page for info about the upcoming EP and DVD on Thrill Jockey Records, or follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and our email list.
By request, we are printing one last batch of our "Stabbed Dagger" t-shirt designs. We will be taking shirt orders until December 1, 2011 only.
ALSO, if anyone has any high quality audio or video recordings (HD only) from any of our final shows, please get in touch with us ASAP. We may be able to include some of your footage or recording on the upcoming DVD!
Double Dagger will be playing our final shows ever this October, 2011. It has been an incredible nine years for us, and it truly would not have been the same without everyone's support and enthusiasm. Read our full announcement here.
BUT more importantly, COME TO OUR LAST SHOWS! We will have some new songs, new shirts, and few extra surprises and special guests. These shows will be nuts, and we recommend buying tickets ahead of time for the Baltimore dates especially.
As mentioned in the announcement, we are recording some final songs and filming a DVD, which will be released in 2013. If you would like to stay up to date on this, we recommend subscribing to our email list and following us on Facebook.
Thanks again, and we hope to see all of you soon!
We've got a bunch of shows coming up in October!
Don't miss our last show for a while at Floristree with Dope Body and Ed Schrader's Music Beat. It's the record release for Nupping, which will definitely be one of the best Baltimore records of 2011.
Got some shows coming up in the next couple of months. Check 'em out.
Happy New Year!
We'll be playing our last Baltimore show of 2010 at Current Gallery on November 6. It's a fundraiser for the gallery to help them improve and maintain their new space on Howard Street, so please come and support the local art scene!
We're playing in Raleigh, NC at Hopscotch Festival on September 9 with our good friends Future Islands. Plus more shows in Charlottesville, DC, B'more, and Brooklyn. Back to school special!
Whartscape 2010 was epic! Check out these photos, videos, and reviews.

If you're planning to get a copy of Masks on vinyl, buy it soon since there aren't copies left.
We'll be touring in Europe in May and June! See all the dates here. A couple of them are still up in the air, but check back here and on our Myspace page since we'll be updating this over the next couple weeks.
In the meantime check out this awesome review of our May 1 show at Death By Audio on The New York Rockmarket: "Nights like last night will save rock and roll."
The new Double Dagger EP Masks is now out in Europe and North America (Thrill Jockey Records, THRILL 239). The LP and CD each come in three different, limited edition die-cut covers designed by Post Typography. Each edition is printed in a different metallic ink, and the "eyes" of each mask change color depending on the orientation of the inner sleeve or CD.
Digital downloads are available for your instant gratification from iTunes, Fina Music, and eMusic. (comes with free printable PDF mini-posters!) You can hear the track "Pillow Talk" from Masks on our Myspace page or preview the entire EP at ThrillJockey.com.
Thrill Jockey also currently has a special package for anyone who orders all three cover editions through their website. In addition to a discounted price, you'll receive a Masks poster hand-screenprinted by the band (that's us!). There are very limited quantities of the poster and this package available.
Otherwise we'll be updating the final list of shows for our European Tour (in May and June) here, and you can catch us in a handful of US cities before we head across the Atlantic.
Masks will be officially released March 23 (see February news for more info on the limited edition covers)! The vinyl verion will be available as part of the extremely limited Thrill Jockey 12" subscription series, which also includes 12"s from Future Islands, High Places, and Jack Rose among others. We'll be playing a bunch of shows after it's out, but in the meantime those of ya'll in Baltimore can catch us on the Ed Schrader show March 11 at Open Space.
Bruce and Nolen also have a brand new limited edition artist book out as part of Soundscreen Design's Artist Music Journal Series. The Post Typography edition presents 24 pages of posters and flyers for Double Dagger and related bands, paired with the back stories of each show and design. Includes reproductions of many rare and never-before-seen posters! Beautifully printed in full color offset lithography, limited edition of 1000 copies. Previous and upcoming AMJ editions include Daniel Higgs, Hisham Bharoocha, Shaun Flynn, Bongout, and Seripop.
Our new EP, Masks comes out at the end of March. The album will be available as a CD, LP, and digital download, and features five brand new tracks (19 minutes total). The LP and CD each come in three different, limited edition die-cut covers designed by Post Typography. Each edition is printed in a different metallic ink, and the "eyes" of each mask change color depending on the orientation of the inner sleeve or CD. Cool! Preview all six front and back covers with this animation or see the silver cover here.
Upcoming shows will be announced soon!
We're finishing up our new EP, Masks, which is coming out in April. Stay tuned for some European tour dates after the album comes out!

"I must have listened to this record a hundred times, at least.. and damn if it isn't as exciting now as it was the first time." -Remember Your Future
"The noisiness and grit of the album reminds me of the best kind of basement show: 19-year-olds pounding King Cobras, battered microphones cutting in and out, ten kids sitting on a collapsing washer and dryer..." -The Chicago Reader
"You will probably mosh to this, but thoughtfully and at acute angles." The Stranger
Impose magazine recently asked us to participate in their "Shot By The Band" series, where they give a band a couple of disposable cameras and have them document a show. Here's how it turned out.
It's good to be back in Baltimore for a bit. Tour was awesome---thanks so much to everyone who came to shows and/or helped us out along the way. We're very excited to announce our very first music video for the song "Vivre Sans Temps Mort." Directed by our amazing filmmaker friend Cat Solen, the video is shot entirely with digital stills and stop-motion animation. We are more than blown away by how it turned out, so you should definitely watch it!
MORE has been getting been getting lots of great reviews in Europe and the U.S. (scroll down to read a few), but we've been especially psyched on the response in Baltimore, city nearest and dearest to our hearts. Among others here's a MORE review and a Double Dagger interview by Baltimore CityPaper, plus a review and some photos from our rowdy-as-fuck record release show on May 22.
MORE is now officially out in Europe and North America! The album is available on CD, LP, and digital formats. (LP comes with free digital download!) You can listen to and stream the entire record on the Thrill Jockey website.
We'll have the CDs and vinyl available at our two shows in Baltimore and Brooklyn later this month. If you can't wait until then, you should be able to pick up a copy at your local record store or upstanding "e-tailers" such as Atomic Books, Thrill Jockey, Insound, iTunes, and more....
Read what some people are saying about the new record:
All Music Guide
We'll be playing songs from MORE (and probably breaking our equipment and ourselves) on tour this summer in a city near you!>!
Our new full length, MORE, comes out next month. You can preview "The Lie/The Truth" from MORE at the end of this rambling interview posted on Aural States where we discuss the new album, the origins of Double Dagger, and other miscellany.
A handful of early MORE reviews are out already, including from The 405,the Washington Post, Built on a Weak Spot, Pasta Primavera, Black Plastic, Classic Rock, and the only one short enough to repost here, a Haiku Review:
